About Us

The original building was built around 1910 as a private residence. It had eight working fireplaces, 8 bedrooms and four bathrooms. The kitchen was at the rear, for easy access by the milkman delivering fresh milk and eggs. Over the decades, several different owners added a one-story addition on the south side. That addition is now a unique and private apartment with direct parking lot access.

In 2016, it was sold to new owners who completely renovated the building from top to bottom, converting the structure into 13 loft and single bedroom apartments. Included in the building are three ground floor, ADA compliant apartments that are accessed at grade level from the rear parking lot. Apartments range in size from 345 to 800 square feet on four different levels.

During renovation, extensive efforts were made to retain the original interior as much as possible. You will find doorway and room arches, historic casework door and window moldings and the original staircases restored. The fireplace mantles and aprons remain in most rooms, although they do not operate as fireplaces. High efficiency gas furnaces, air conditioning systems and electric water heaters were added to each apartment to provide year round comfort with minimal utility cost. Water saving toilets, showers and faucets were installed in every apartment to reduce usage and expense.

Located just one block from the Hopkins Homewood campus and two blocks from several restaurants, stores, shops and banks, St. Paul @ 30 is at the perfect walking location, sharply reducing the need for owning an automobile. However, if you do own a car, a parking lot with dedicated spaces is available at the rear of the building. Using the parking lot avoids the hassle of finding on-street parking and possible city parking tickets.
